We have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Manager. This is a full-time position.

Essential Duties:

• Manages activities relating to staffing, on-boarding, employee development and training, performance management, labour relations, employee relations investigations, benefits and salary administration
• Hires, trains, and evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action
• Administers pre-employment tests to applicants when applicable
• Recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover
• Represents the company at personnel-related hearings and investigations, writes notices for employees separating with cause, and supports people leaders
• Investigates accidents and grievances
• Maintains records of insurance coverage, pension plan, hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations
• Participates in the compensation and benefit administration cycle including conducting wage surveys to determine competitive rates and other current trends
• Prepares and analyzes the department budget
• Collaborates with management to determine areas requiring improvement of workforce learning and development
• Performs physical security clearance for new hires and current employees based on customer requirements or legislation

Additional Job Details

• 5-10 years of experience in human resources, preferably in a unionized environment
• 5-7 years of management experience
• Post-secondary education in business management, commerce or human resource management
• Professional designation such as CHRL, CIPD, SHRM
• Practical knowledge of employee and labour relations, recruitment, compensation, benefits, and applicable human resources legislation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with personal and sensitive matters of a highly private nature
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Critical thinking and sound judgment skills to provide clear direction
• Ability to interact at all levels within the organization;
• Financial and commercial awareness
• Superior organization and time management skills
• A willingness to work flexible hours when required

The successful candidate will need to pass the necessary government security clearances for the controlled goods program.
